Pyrography

SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT

This was my first attempt at Pyrography ( pronounced- pahy-rog-ruh-fee ),
also known as woodburning.
I am crowing about my first attempt as I think
it’s not too bad. I smell a little like burnt wood….funny about that!!! I used
plywood for this, not a wise choice as it splinters, found it awkward
to find the right wood to use for this project. Gives me an excuse to try
another one!!!

*TIP- When cutting plywood across the grain, apply some
wide masking tape, and cut down the middle of the
masking tape. When you remove the tape, pull it off
from the inner edge out, so you don’t lift any fragile
splinters. It is supposed to help reduce splintering
(thanks Craig)!

    G’day Petrina,
Love your work - you’re right to be happy with your first wood-burning attempt. It’s terrific. I have a wood-burning tool which i haven’t used for years - you inspire me.
BTW I had a great birthday card once which said “As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way”. My wish for you too. :-)
